钢琴即兴配奏
是一门即席创作的综合性艺术。它包含了钢琴演奏技术、作曲和声技术、视唱练耳技术三大基础。它要求钢琴演奏者在短时间内，为简谱或单旋律，配上动听的、准确规范的、符合音乐情绪和艺术形象的伴奏，从而更好地衬托和表现音乐。简而言之，就是：即兴为一首歌曲或乐曲配钢琴伴奏并演奏出来。
对专业学习钢琴的人而言，“钢琴即兴配奏课”，是当今各大音乐艺术院校开设的实用性极强的新学科，目前全国范围内，越来越多的有影响的专业比赛，都纷纷加入了“钢琴即兴配奏”或“即兴弹唱”的比赛项目；而许多学习音乐的大学生，毕业就业考试时，常常遭遇简谱即兴配奏的考核。
对业余学习钢琴的人而言，“钢琴即兴配奏课”同样是更加实用的技术。许多孩子学钢琴只是作为业余爱好，考到业余高级程度后，文化课的压力，使这些孩子很难有足够的时间练习，向更高的钢琴技术迈进，于是，许多钢琴就被“尘封”起来。

You have very good talent and techniques of playing piano, you can play many famous pieces of piano music, however, when you are given a piece of music written in numbered musical notations, you are perplexed and you do not know what to do;

Impromptu Piano Accompaniment
Impromptu Piano Accompaniment is the integrated art of piano improvisation. It requires the skills of piano playing, music composing and techniques of harmonization, as well as the skills of solfeggio. Impromptu Piano Accompaniment dictates that the piano player, in the short time period allowed, come up with and provide the piano accompaniment for a musical piece written in numbered musical notations or written in a single melody. In addition, the piano accompaniment has to be beautifulaccurate and be in compliance with the musical standards; and the accompaniment has to suit the over-all musical emotions and the musical style. In short, it is to provide the improvised piano accompaniment for a song or a melody.
For those people who specialize in playing piano, the “Impromptu Piano Accompaniment” is one of the new courses with strong practical applications offered by many colleges and universities of music. In many of the well-known piano competitions, “Piano Improvisation” or “Impromptu Singing to One’s Own Piano Accompaniment” have been added to the competition contents; and many of the college graduates of music major have been asked to given impromptu performances when they apply for career positions.

This studio was set up by Pianist and Associate Professor YanniGuo who has been teaching piano playing at Sichuan Conservatory of Music (see introduction about her) for more than 20 years. Professor Guo has very reach teaching and practical experiences in the area of impromptu piano accompaniment. She also has very solid and versatile techniques and skills in impromptu piano accompaniment and in the area of singing to one’s own piano accompaniment. The purpose of establishing this studio is to study the art of impromptu piano accompaniment from a wider angle and to a deeper depth, and also to introduce this form of art to a wider audience. It is Professor Guo’s wish to help those who are interested in the art of impromptu piano accompaniment to have various degrees of ability and skills, so as to be able to provide impromptu piano accompaniment and to be able to sing to one’s own piano accompaniment. It is also Prof. Guo’s wish to use this platform to exchange ideas and techniques with other experts, good performer, other pianists and singers, as well as music-loving ordinary people about impromptu piano accompaniment.
